I was asked to set up an amateur radio event. This is for all students at UNB. This is a radio contest and is a leisure activity. I chose the upcoming 2026 CQ WW SSB Radio Contest because one can hear international stations. It uses amateur radio. CQ means calling all stations. WW means worked prefixes. SSB means single sideband. VE9UNB is the amateur radio call sign of the station. VE9 is the prefix for New Brunswick.
The 2026 CQ WW SSB is from Friday,
October 23, 2026, 9 pm, Atlantic Daylight Time, to Sunday,
October 25, 2026, 9 pm, Atlantic Daylight Time.
if you would like to participate for an hour or two, please email me at
brent.petersen@unb.ca and I will give you write access to the sign up sheet.
A fixed screenshot of the blank sign up sheet is at signup-sheet-blank.
A good example of this activity is this video,
