Reading Picks:
Lately I have been trying to read more fiction. It isn't easy, since I seem to be a 'picky' reader (though I am certainly not a reading 'snob' - on occasion, I am willing to read Children's books!). I like well developed characters and plots and can't stand gaps in development of either kind. I also like concise writing that focuses more on characters and plots and less on setting descriptions. For some reason I can't get through most mysteries, even when I like the writing. I enjoy a good fantasy, as long as it is not too complex. If you are like me, then you might like these titles, which I have recently enjoyed.
- Ready Player One, Ernest Cline (Just started it, but its got promise...)
- The Martian (Not well written, but the story kept me in it...and a Software Engineer wrote it!)
- Foundation Series, Isaac Asimov (just reread the entire series...its worth it!)
- Questions & Answers (Q &A), Vikas Swarup
- The Housekeeper and the Professor, Yoko Ogawa
- Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood
- The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls
- Ender's Game (and all of its associated novels), Orsen Scott Card
- The Lightening Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1), Rick Riordan
