CERTIFICATE IN UNIVERSITY TEACHING |

I have had the opportunity to develop my teaching skills as well as to develop myself professionally
since I started my PhD at the University of Waterloo. I have been participating in the
TRACE program to improve
my teaching skills. In September 1998, the University of Waterloo introduced a Certificate in
University Teaching (CUT) program. The CUT program is a voluntary instructional training program
that participants undertake outside their degree requirements. As a participant, I have been
putting a lot of effort in improving my teaching skills with the help of the TRACE office. I have
attended eight TRACE workshops and submitted the reflective response papers. I also had four
teaching events observed by the TA developers. In addition, I have prepared a teaching research
paper and a teaching dossier.
